Anthony was not alone in the pursuit for the right to
vote or that she was not even alive when the 19th
amendment to the constitution was passed on August 26,
1920? Before Martin Luther King and even Ghandi,
over 72 years and three generations, America’s women
persistently and intelligently demonstrated that
rights can be gained without shots being fired or
lives being lost.

author, speaker, and workshop facilitator who has
conducted extensive research on women’s issues and the
history of the suffrage movement in the United
